17-ball stacking: each bearing uses an inner ring, outer ring, and 17 balls arranged side-by-side, akin to linear bearing tracks
Three-point contact: balls engage inner and outer rings at three points on three faces—two of which are conical—for maximum stability
Modular assembly: drop-in inner rings; outer rings are greased and loaded with balls prior to gearbox installation
Assembly & installation
Apply grease to the inner surfaces of the outer rings.
Stack 17 balls into each outer ring.
Press the inner ring into the loaded outer ring.
Use a magnet on the gearbox exterior during install/disassembly to keep the assembly intact.
