Usage instructions (detailed)
Prepare tinder and set up a safe ignition area.
Hold the fire steel firmly; angle the tinder to receive sparks.
Scrape the ferrocerium rod with a knife spine or striker using decisive, controlled strokes to produce sparks directed at the tinder.
Continue until an ember forms; then gently nurture the ember into flame with fine fuel.
Allow the rod to cool after use, clean off residues and store dry.
Inspect rod and strap periodically and replace if worn or damaged.
