The Extrema Ratio S-THIL STONE WASHED is a tactical backup knife with a monolithic structure crafted from a single piece of 5 mm thick BOHLER N690 steel. It was developed in collaboration with designer Thilo Arnd Schiller.
The spear point blade is heat-treated to 58 HRC to achieve the optimal balance between edge retention and durability. It features a false edge on the upper part that enhances its penetration and tip work characteristics. Additionally, the blade has a full-length groove (fuller) that gracefully flows from the blade to the handle. The blade is milled seamlessly into the knife to enhance compactness and lightweight performance while maintaining minimal thickness, reminiscent of Extrema Ratio's classic grip design.
This profile forms two small guards and provides a comfortable thumb rest, preventing hand slippage towards the blade. At the rear end, there is a skull crusher with a diamond-shaped tip and a lanyard hole for attaching a wrist lanyard or wrapping the handle with paracord.
The molded nylon sheath is designed to be extremely flat and compact, minimizing its lateral dimensions. The knife's design is ambidextrous, allowing it to be inserted into the sheath with the cutting edge facing either right or left. The sheath features a dual retention system consisting of four pressure elements that work in pairs, depending on right-handed or left-handed use. The textile part of the sheath includes a button for securing the knife.
The sheath's end has a hole for liquid or debris expulsion. Its versatility is enhanced by the option to attach belt clips, ulticlips, or malice clips. Additionally, the sheath can be attached to the M.O.L.L.E. system by weaving paracord.
